X-wing Alliance articles

I hope you don't mind if I put up images for the articles you're working on. I can extract them and convert them to optimized PNG files pretty efficiently, but I can stop if you plan to put them up yourself. —Darth Culator (talk) 20:31, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

  • I may have eventually added images to the articles, but feel free to upload some yourself. Glad to see someone else is interested in info from that great game! --JMM 20:34, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
    • It's a great game up until the final mission... flying the Falcon in the Battle of Yavin's just not right :-P KEJ 20:36, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi there pal. Please let me know of the X-wing mission articles you have made so far. I have added the majority of ships appearing in the game (Freighter names etc) MoffRebus 06:29, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

  • I haven't made any articles based on the missions in X-Wing Alliance, only many of the characters and items from the game. I've added an article based on the original X-Wing game (Rescue at Mon Calamari). I'm not sure if I'll do more, but I did add some characters and ships. There may be more to come, though. --JMM 18:30, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for helping out with the Battlefront names list: I was just asking for help in TFN's videogames forum when you started adding to the list! —Silly Dan (talk) 02:00, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

  • No problem. All I had to do was quickly finish one mission, and just took screen grabs of the list of names at the end. I'll leave the list of Clone Troopers (Omega 324, etc.) to someone else. :) Those are all from BF2, by the way. --JMM 02:40, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
    • Also, I'm deleting Brac Hollix per your findings. Thanks for checking! —Silly Dan (talk) 15:07, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
    • Great! I'm sort of taking it upon myself to clean up these fighter squadron and pilot pages. Something about them seems to attract fanon. --JMM 15:22, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Star Tours

Thanks. :) Adamwankenobi 21:36, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Congrats!!!

Congrats on being published in WTS! I loved the link to Anwis Eddicus, and also to Palpy's listening devices... it's very Delta Source. You nailed it! --Azizlight 22:52, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Gamer

I like the citation template you made. Nice work. I'll implement is as I see it needed. --Eyrezer 00:35, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks! I've also created one for the Star Wars Galaxy mag, and one for Marvel comics, using the specific story titles and issue numbers: Template:Galaxy; Template:Marvel --JMM 02:27, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
    • Hmm. Not so sure I like the Marvel one. Maybe because I've just gone through 20 issues changing them one way! --Eyrezer 03:03, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
      • At the moment, the Marvel one seems to have two links to the same article. As there isn't multiple OOU articles or stories in each issue, I'm not sure that a template is necessary. If it had a logo, that could be cool but otherwise, might be superfluous. --Eyrezer 07:48, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
        • Hm. You may have me there. I wasn't really thinking the point of the Template being used for a book with multiple stories in it. But I guess I just like the idea of listing the issues by the story title first, and then the issue number. Maybe it may make for good discussion elsewhere? --JMM 12:48, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
          • Also... I figured the template also gives as a standard way of citing the Marvel comics. Some write the issue number only, others do the full length title. Plus, I like the way it looks, too. :) --JMM 14:04, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
            • Lol. I've also been working in the last few days to standardize the Marvel citations.Unfortunately I started from 107 and worked my way backwards, otherwise we would have seen we were working in different directions earlier (I've done from 107 through to 75). I've been changing all the links to point straight to the comics pages rather than through redirects. Currently the comic issues are at Star Wars 106: My Hiromi, Star Wars 107: All Together Now, etc. I definitely prefer this over the "Marvel Star Wars 107: All Together Now". My explanation may seem odd, but it seems more self-confident, like the Marvel comics don't need to be self-conscious about being from Marvel (They are no longer marginalized! Wahoo!)
            • As to comparing your format to the one I've been changing them to, I think they are a lot closer. I probably still prefer the number first, but that is only personal I guess. --Eyrezer 00:26, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
              • I liked that change. After all, the comics' actual title is "Star Wars". I've also added redirects from "Star Wars 97", instead of the previous "Marvel Star Wars 97". I even added redirects for the story titles, too. I figure someone may want to look up "The Third Law", etc. And no, there's no reason the Marvels should be looked down upon. Especially now, after what we've seen Lumiya get involved with and be responsible for in the Legacy novels. --JMM 01:55, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
                • So with the Marvels, are we sticking with the Star Wars 107: All Together Now format? --Eyrezer 01:35, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
                  • Yes, I don't think they really make a whole lot of sense. I'm going to get rid of the template where it's been used and maybe mark it for deletion. --JMM 13:27, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Dash Rendar's Hoth screenshot

Please provide a source for the image[1] you uploaded about Dash Rendar fighting on Hoth. - TopAce (Talk) 11:28, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

  • I forgot to add that info. It was an official shot from a website that I saved, but I can't seem to find the image again to confirm it. I'll have to do some more searching. --JMM 18:36, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Uploading images

Hi. When uploading images, please make sure you put the Information template on the page. It saves someone else having to do it at a later date. --Eyrezer 00:26, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Would it possible to upload a version of this with the rest of the body of the green guy to the left included? I tried but my pic was of a much lower quality. --Eyrezer 04:42, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Ace's portrait

Hi... I really wonder how did you make up the portraits of Ace Azzameen for his article. MoffRebus 12:22, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

  • Actually, I only added one of those pictures. The one of Ace in his Rebel gear wasn't me. There are points in the game when you're sitting in the hangar bay before taking off for a mission. When you're there, you move the "camera" around and get different angles and views. One view let's you zoom in pretty close, and when you do that, you can see Ace sitting there. That's where I got the screen grab from. You may be able to do this during missions, too. The only problem is those pictures are kind of weird and creepy looking. :) Maybe some day we'll get a proper portrait of him. --JMM 12:34, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Star Wars Finest

Hey, I was looking at Pellaeon, and you uploaded an image called Pellaeon_Finest but didn't give a source. Another image of Jaina you uploaded called Jaina_Finest you sourced as from "Star Wars Finest" but Wookieepedia doesn't have an article on that. Could you confirm exactly what that source is and maybe create an article on it? They're good images and I'd hate to lose them. Thanks. Havac 03:32, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

  • Star Wars Finest was a card set put out by Topps in the '90s. I did notice there was no article for it. I may add one in the future. --JMM 12:08, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
    • Great, thanks. Havac 17:39, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Star Wars: Adventures in Colors and Shapes

Hey JMM, I saw you created the Star Wars: Adventures in Colors and Shapes article, and was hoping that if you have the book accessible to you, you might be able to tell me in what context wampas are mentioned so that I may add it to that page if it's significant enough. Thanks. Toprawa and Ralltiir 06:36, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

A Guide to the Star Wars Universe (third edition)

Hey JMM, I was going to help with the article mentioned above but it is being revised. Can I help?-- Darth Skirata Jedi Order (Talk) 17:29, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

  • While I was the last one to work on the article, I didn't put the "under revision" tag on there. I think it was Darth Culator who added it. --JMM 20:32, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Weird request

Hey JMM, this might sound like an odd question, but do you wouldn't happen to have any of the old issues of that SWFA "magazine" would you? I was searching through the old versions of the SWFA site on sw-rpg.net, and saw that around 4 issues were made. Was there an earlier incarnation of the site on a different server? I know that some of the fiction and articles are on the current site, but is there some sort of text version of the early issues? I thought the TC discussion on Thrawn's rank, and the Rogues list were fairly intriguing, and I thought it might be interesting to see the earliest incarnation of it. Cull Tremayne 01:55, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

  • Pretty much everything from the original versions of the site are on the new one. There may have been a few revisions here and there, but most things are intact. There are a handful of things that members had taken off the site, and usually had some good reasons to do so. But really, most everything is there now. --JMM 22:34, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Award

DSaward

Greyman has award you, JMM, the Retro Star Award.

Hey, JMM. I just wanted to say good job and thanks for your hard work over the last few months with regards to the expansion that you've done on topics originating from the Marvel Star Wars UK line of comics. Keep it up. Cheers, Greyman@wikiajanitor(Talk) 17:28, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I'll be sure to put it up on the mantle. --JMM 17:34, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Andoorni Hui picture

Hey JMM. I've nominated Andoorni Hui for featured article consideration, and I wanted to mention in Behind the Scenes who illustrates Andoorni Hui in the Japanese X-Wing novels. I saw you put the picture up, so I thought you could check for me and tell me who the artist was?

Thanks!

NaQoit, not NaQuoit

Hello there, JJM! I would like to ask where is "NaQoit" spelled "NaQuoit". Is it in the Dark Empire Sourcebook? I just checked Rebel Dawn and Dark Empire endnotes and both state "NaQoit". Since Rebel Dawn is newer source, I'd say it takes precence. Thanks. --Darth Paulus JaingHead (May the Force serve you well!) 19:09, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the poster info

Thanks for finishing the "Official Poster Monthly" articles! —Silly Dan (talk) 21:14, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

GG3 image

Hey, JMM. While you're on a GG3 image uploading kick, can you grab the image of Chreeto the Defiant in the second edition's Freedom No More section? Toprawa and Ralltiir 05:47, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

  • OK. There you go. I added a quote to the page, too. --JMM 17:02, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Uploading images

Please put the licensing tag for images IN the template, not with a separate heading beneath it. Thanks. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 18:09, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

  • For most images, I've chosen the licensing info from the drop down box below. Is that not the way to do it? --JMM 18:31, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
    • Yeah, that is kinda confusing. No, the best way is to just not touch the drop down menu. And put the licensing tag (ie {{Fairuse}}, {{Magazinecover}}, {{Comiccover}}, {{Promotional}}, etc)) directly into the template with the rest of the information. Or, if you prefer, you can use the drop down menu, but once the image is uploaded, then move the licensing template up into the image information template and delete the ==Licensing== heading. But that just seems like more work to me. Hope that helps. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 18:42, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Hey, wanted to thank you for all your help and contributions to my favorite project, the Marvel index;) There are so many comics, and I haven't even finished indexing the first two volumes, so I really appreciate you hleping "from the other end" of things (ie, the latter volumes) especially! cheersJustinGann 16:34, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

  • You're welcome. Have to make sure the Marvels get some respect!--JMM 16:37, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

SWFA's official friendship with Wookieepedia

Hey, JMM. I'm told that the Star Wars Fanboy Association is part of your webspace. Currently, the SWFA is listed and linked to under Wookieepedia's official friends box on the main page, but the SWFA does not link back to Wookieepedia in return. As a result, some users have discussed removing SWFA from Wook's official friends here. Personally I think the friendship would be good to maintain. Would it be possible for you to add Wookieepedia to the SWFA's "Friends & Affiliates" section, or to raise the issue with other members of the site? That would appease those looking to end the friendship. Cheers, -- AdmirableAckbar (Talk) 17:02, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

  • I'm surprised none of us thought of that! A Wookieepedia link will appear on our site soon. --JMM 18:16, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Venka

Hey JMM. I saw that you added the Shadows of the Empire Sourcebook to the Source list of the Venka article, but I can't seem to find any mention of him in there. I was hoping you could direct me to this information. Thanks. Toprawa and Ralltiir 21:24, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Looking back, I believe Kallic is mentioned in the Shadows sourcebook. That's why that source is listed. --JMM 01:52, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Narra

That's what I was looking for with Narra - thanks. I wanted to leave the transparency on the image, but the purple background looked terrible. Fortunately I was foresighted enough to stop after one image and wait for someone else's take on it, so now I'll keep at it. - Brynn Alastayr 20:19, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Outer Rim sector images

I would like to thank you for uploading all those individual sector images from the recently released Outer Rim sector map. It's really mind blowing isn't it? -- Riffsyphon1024 01:17, September 14, 2009 (UTC)

  • It'd be nice of we get more of the same for the other regions.--JMM 01:24, September 14, 2009 (UTC)

Stubs

When creating new stub articles, please do not forget to provide them with both {{eras}} template and a respective stub template. Thank you. MauserComlink 14:15, October 13, 2009 (UTC)

  • Please also note, that you should not put articles in any of the stub categories manually. Instead, you should add it to the general category ("Star Wars Authors" instead of "Author srtubs") and provide a prober stub template {{author-stub}}, that will automatically add the stub category. Thank you. MauserComlink 19:58, October 20, 2009 (UTC)
