The Chempat "Defender" deflector shield generator was the shield generator/projector system used on the X-wing fighter. It was capable of generating both ray and particle shields. Thanks to this unit, the X-wing was able to withstand greater amounts of punishment than Imperial fighters of the same era.

This type of shielding was also used on the later Imperial Guard TIE/I Starfighter.
