The "ugly" assassin droid was an assassin droid created by a former classmate of Raith Sienar from Rigovian Technical University. However, the droids were a failure on two accounts: they were obvious in their nature, and they were prone to going completely berserk.
The one Sienar kept in his underground museum had killed his former classmate, and served as a reminder of not to overstep one's competence.

There is no official name for this anonymous assassin droid. The only clue as to its name follows in this excerpt from Rogue Planet on page 67: "A small cubicle between two larger exhibits held a rather ugly assassin droid, with a long cylindrical head and rudimentary thorax."
Though Greg Bear intended this droid to be of the same line as IG-88, it is not known whether this identification is still valid.
