11-4D, pronounced OneOne-FourDee and often referred to as 4D, was a multi-appendage bipedal droid that originally served on the freighter Woebegone. It's programming included piloting and medical expertise. The droid later became the property of the Order of the Sith Lords when it served as an aide to the Sith Lord Darth Plagueis.

By the year 67 BBY, 11-4D was the personal property of the Togruta Ellin Lah, the captain of a freighter known as the Woebegone. After departing from the planet Bal'demnic with cargo belonging to the Hutts, the crew discovered an injured Muun stowaway—the Sith Lord Darth Plagueis—aboard their ship. After some discussion, they decided to return to Bal'demnic where they intended to turn the Muun over to the local authorities. As a result of their decision, Plagueis killed the entire crew of the Woebegone with 4D onlooking. Afterward, he claimed 11-4D as his own.[1]
11-4D served as a personal assistant to the Dark Lord of the Sith for many years. Hence, the droid was one of the select few who knew that Darth Plagueis and Hego Damask, magister of Damask Holdings, were one and the same. As with Plagueis, 11-4D also knew that the Dark Lord's Human apprentice, Darth Sidious, was actually Palpatine, the sole-surviving member of a noble family that hailed from the planet Naboo.[1]
While Palpatine ascended in the political domain of the Galactic Republic in his guise as Palpatine, Plagueis all but completely removed himself from public affairs, choosing to concentrate his efforts on increasing his knowledge of the Force. 11-4D served as an intermediary between the Dark Lord and his Sun Guard protectors. The droid also aided its Master's efforts to manipulate the midi-chlorians. One notable account was when 11-4D assisted his master to experiment on the Bith Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Venamis, who was in a comatose state. By this time, 11-4D had been upgraded to better serve in its capacity as Plagueis' servant, thus outfitting its appendages as needed with blasters or medical attachments, depending on the nature of the mission.[1]
On the eve of Senator Palpatine's election to the office of Supreme Chancellor in 32 BBY, 11-4D was present in Hego Damask's penthouse at Kaldani Spires Residential Apartments where the two Sith Lords convened to discuss the progress of the Sith Grand Plan. It was then, however, when the apprentice betrayed and murdered his Master. 11-4D moved to help the fallen Dark Lord, but was halted from doing so by order of its new owner. Afterward, the droid became the possession of the Republic's new Chancellor.[1]

According to author James Luceno in a Facebook Q&A, "There's a scene at the end of Labyrinth of Evil where a couple of droids get the drop on the good guys who are closing in on Sidious's secret lair. I like to think the 11-4D might have been in that room, and he was surely present when Anakin was fitted with the suit."
