3D-4X was a silver-plated 3D-4 administrative droid.

3D-4X served Hekis Durumm Perdo Kolokk Baldikarr Thun on Mechis III. He acted as the butler for the manufacturing administrator on the volcanic planet. In 11 BBY, the escaped IG-88s prototypes assassin droids arrived at Mechis III after leaving the smoldering ruins of the Holowan Laboratories behind them and convinced 3D-4X to assassinate his own master.

As of 24 ABY, long after the Droid Revolution had failed, he could be found serving the most recent owner of the droid manufacturing facilities on Mechis III, the Alderaanian Tyko Thul.
