[edit] History
500 Republica was located in the Ambassadorial Sector and was home to many wealthy citizens including senators and politicians such as Palpatine, along with successful businesspersons like Raith Sienar, the head of Santhe/Sienar Technologies. During his time as Supreme Chancellor, Palpatine had a luxurious apartment suite in an undisclosed location in the tower.
The building contained hundreds of private turbolifts to protect the privacy of the the building's high profile residents. 500 Republica was also equipped with 53 individual skydocks that were built in the facade of the building. These skydocks made sure that access to the building was only allowed to the residents and their guests. Finally, security holocams and hidden weaponry guarded the building's entrances, doorways, and corridors. However, near the very end of the Clone Wars, Mace Windu and a squad of clone troopers discovered a passageway in the sub-basements of 500 Republica that led to a building in the Works.
When Confederacy forces led by General Grievous attacked Coruscant, they knew exactly where to go for their target. On the same day as the Separatist attack on Coruscant, Republic Intelligence had discovered the shocking truth that the Sith mastermind behind the Clone Wars was operating right from the very heart of the Republic, and was traced back to 500 Republica. Dyne, a member of Republic Intelligence, even learned of the shocking identity of this Dark Lord of the Sith before his untimely death. Anakin Skywalker also learned the identity of the Sith Lord and revealed it to Mace Windu. Windu and three members of the Jedi Council confronted the Sith Lord at the Supreme Chancellor's office. Palpatine killed the three Jedi Council members and battled Windu via a lightsaber duel. In the end, it was the intervention of Anakin Skywalker that resulted in the death of Windu at the hands of Palpatine.
