Montgomery appeared in Tales from Jabba's Palace which was published in January 1996 by Bantam Spectra. It tells the story of how Boba Fett escaped the Sarlacc.

Plot summary

The story carries on from the events in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi during which Boba Fett falls into the Great Pit of Carkoon, meaning the Sarlacc. It elaborates on the fate of the creature's victims as they are slowly digested over the centuries, and especially of the creature's first victim, Susejo. Inside the Sarlacc, for some time Fett is immobilized and his armor heavily damaged by the creature's digestive system, but eventually by goading Susejo, Fett makes the Sarlacc contract around his jetpack, causing it to explode, and freeing the bounty hunter from the Sarlacc's grasp. He then fires concussion grenades into the wall of the beast, blowing a hole in its interior, creating a means of escape. Boba Fett escapes, leaving the Sarlacc (It survives) and goes into the Tattoine Desert with a broken arm, destroyed armor, and many injuries. It briefly mentions Slave II. Then the story goes to a year later, where Boba Fett goes back to the Sarlacc pit. At the edge of the pit Susegi talks to him, saying "What strange mercy is this?" Boba then tells him that they will meet again, and the story ends.
