Aaroun
The Aaroun were a sentient species of carnivores. The powerful beings were covered in golden fur. The species was bred as slaves and gladiators by the Viis Empire,[1] a significant polity in the Unknown Regions until it was decimated by the shape shifting, malevolent entity known as the Mnggal-Mnggal.[2]
Behind the scenes
Edit

The Aaroun were first referenced in Star Wars canon in volume I of The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, published by Del Rey in 2008. Their genesis, however, is found in Alien Chronicles, a science-fiction trilogy authored by Deborah Chester, published by Ace Books, and commissioned by Lucasfilm Ltd. The Aaroun were illustrated for Alien Chronicles by Terryl Whitlatch, who designed creatures for the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and went on to illustrate The Wildlife of Star Wars: A Field Guide.
