Chalmun's Cantina[1]

"Come back soon, I'll be waiting!"
―Ackmena[src]

Ackmena was the nightshift bartender in Chalmun's Cantina in Mos Eisley on Tatooine. She was a favorite personage of the regular patrons there. Unlike Wuher, the dayshift bartender, Ackmena's friendliness and open personality livened the atmosphere of the room immensely. She would routinely lend money to needy patrons and offer free drinks on special occasions. Assisting her at the bar was a diminutive female barmaid (name unknown), and a tall, blue-faced bouncer named Tork.

[edit] Biography

During Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi's scuffle with Ponda Baba and Doctor Evazan, Ackmena was present in Chalmun's office requesting better hours.

Shortly after the Battle of Yavin, Imperial Intelligence suspected subversive activity was taking place on Tatooine. As such, a mandatory curfew was placed on Mos Eisley forcing everyone to return to their homes. The patrons at Chalmun’s were extremely put out by the decree and became unruly. Ackmena assuaged growing tempers by offering a round of drinks to the entire room—on the house. In order to keep everything as amicable as possible, she began singing a song entitled "Goodnight, But Not Goodbye." Ackmena and Tork successfully convinced everyone to leave the cantina peacefully.

Following the Battle of Endor, Ackmena teamed up with Cebann Veekan, a cantina patron and holoperformer. The two formed a theater troupe and met success when they began performing dramas inspired by the adventures of local Rebel Alliance hero Luke Skywalker.
