Star Wars: Adventures in Hyperspace is a series of Star Wars Legends young-reader novels that were written by Ryder Windham, illustrated by Robert Rath, and published by Scholastic Inc.. The series comprises two books—Fire Ring Race and Shinbone Showdown, both released on June 1, 2010—which follow the adventures of smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca while working for Jabba the Hutt prior to the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
Windham was originally contracted to write a four-book series for Star Wars: Adventures in Hyperspace, the full synopsis of which Lucasfilm approved. However, Scholastic canceled the final two books, The Big Switch and The Last Blade Master, due to low advance orders on the first two books. Windham's completed manuscript for The Big Switch and approved synopsis for The Last Blade Master are now available on author Joseph Bongiorno's fan site, The Star Wars Expanded Universe Timeline.
