Aelids were a race of furry ice worms native to the planet Khorm. They were known for the ability to burrow under the snow and ice. They rarely ate live prey.

Aelids were often used by the native Khormai as a means of transportation. They could be attracted by a special horn call. Riders would actually ride inside the Aelid's mouth using external reins to guide it.
