Aereen was a dusty, mineral-rich moon of Krant where a Trade Federation mining colony ran by Plure Barron was destroyed by Echuu Shen-Jon during the Clone Wars. After destroying the mining operation, Echuu moved on to invade Krant with the few soldiers he had left. The Federation was building Decimators here during the war.
