The Agricultural Corps (or AgriCorps) was one of the several branches of the Jedi Service Corps staffed by young Jedi learners, ages 6-16. Among the Padawans, assignment to the AgriCorps was considered a demarcation of inability. The function of the Corps was to aid in tending to and harvesting crops for the Republic. It is possible that Jedi geologists served under the Corps. They were based within the Jedi Temple, and maintained research labs within its halls. The Corps worked closely with the Republic's Agricultural Administration.
After the formation of the Galactic Empire and the Great Jedi Purge, Palpatine rounded up all of the AgriCorps members. They were taken to Byss, along with other Force-sensitive individuals captured during the Clone Wars, where the most worthy ones among them were trained as Dark Jedi. The non-worthy AgriCorps members were disposed of by Darth Vader.
In Luke Skywalker's New Jedi Order, the practice of sending either less-adept or Padawans unapprenticed by the usual age to the Agri-Corps was abandoned, though the Order maintained their labs within the new Jedi Temple.
