Akaga

Akaga was a Nebulon-B Escort Frigate that defected from the Imperial Navy to the Alliance to Restore the Republic in 1 BBY. Mon Mothma assigned it to the task force under Sundered Heart and Captain Raymus Antilles. Though Akaga was present at Toprawa prior to the Battle of Yavin, it did not follow the Tantive IV to Tatooine.

After the Battle of Hoth when Admiral Harkov battled against the Empire, the Rebels gave the former Imperial commander Akaga. When Lord Vader tracked Harkov's forces down, it was destroyed.

The name Akaga is probably based on the combination of the names of two warships in the Imperial Japanese Navy, the aircraft carriers Akagi and the Kaga, hence Akaga.
