- "Alara!"
- ―A fellow Jedi upon witnessing Alara's death
Alara was a Human female who served as a member of the Jedi Order during the Great Galactic War. She was stationed at the Jedi Temple on the Galactic Republic's capital world of Coruscant[2] in 3,653 BBY,[1] while the Republic conducted peace talks with their enemy in the war, the Sith Empire. The Imperials were ultimately uninterested in peace, and so launched a surprise attack on the Jedi Temple and all of Coruscant during the peace negotiations on Alderaan. When the Sith Lord Darth Malgus infiltrated and assaulted the Temple, Alara joined her fellow Jedi in the defense of their home; she attacked Malgus alongside two of her comrades, but was quickly defeated. The Sith Lord severed Alara's lightsaber-wielding hand and proceeded to throttle her with his own hand before slamming her into the Temple floor with Force-enhanced strength. Malgus continued on to kill her Jedi brethren before destroying the Temple as a whole in what would prove to be the final battle of the war.[2]
