"I was lucky enough to have a Star Wars collector for a dad, and my life has been that much richer for being introduced very early on to Luke and his galaxy far, far away. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to retell the story that sparked my imagination and inspired me to be a writer. It's a true honor to help introduce new young readers to this amazing universe for the first time."
―Alexandra Bracken[src]

Alexandra "Alex" Bracken is the author of the novel A New Hope: The Princess, the Scoundrel, and the Farm Boy, a retelling of the classic Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. She replaced R.J. Palacio, who was slated to write the novel, but was forced to exit the project due to scheduling conflicts. Bracken is the author of the Darkest Minds series, published through Disney Publishing, as well as her debut novel, Brightly Woven.[1]

Bracken's father was a Star Wars collector, and during her childhood she attended numerous Star Wars conventions with her father.[2]
