[edit] Biography
Ali-Alann served in this capacity when Qui-Gon Jinn first took Obi-Wan Kenobi as a Padawan. When Xanatos was sabotaging the Jedi Temple, the Dark Jedi caused a turbolift car in the Temple to become destabilized. Ali-Alann and his ten charges were in the turbolift car at the time, which was in danger of falling. Obi-Wan Kenobi risked his life to climb into the car and help Ali-Alann safely evacuate the younglings. The members of the Jedi Council, fetched by Bant Eerin, then used the Force to safely lower the car.
When Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan discovered that Xanatos was having the spy droid 2JTJ keep track of them, Ali-Alann and Garen Muln disguised themselves as Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to distract the droid and feed Xanatos false information through it while the real Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan searched for Xanatos unnoticed. The disguised Ali-Alann and Garen Muln pretended to search one wing of the Temple while Jinn and Kenobi went to the security chamber where they were sure Xanatos would actually be.
By the time Obi-Wan Kenobi took Anakin Skywalker as Padawan, Ali-Alann had been assigned a droid helper in the nursery. When the droid needed a new motivator and the Jedi Temple tech service department was running low, Tru Veld decided to surprise Ali-Alann and procure a new motivator. Tru found one in the Coruscant underground, but at the same time the motivator had been discovered by Anakin Skywalker. The two boys at first disputed the motivator, but Anakin was ashamed to realize that he only wanted it for himself, whereas Tru wanted it to help another. While arguing over the motivator, the two Padawans were attacked by Manikons. Upon their return to the Jedi Temple, Anakin's absence was questioned by Obi-Wan Kenobi, but Tru Veld covered for Anakin. The experience forged a bond between the two that led to friendship.
Ali-Alann was present at the Jedi Temple the night of Order 66, and perished within the halls defending the younglings he so long attended to.[1]
