Rise of the Empire era[1]

"The Rebels will see no more use from this communications center—destroy it!"
―Darth Vader orders Imperial forces to assault the communications array[src]

A communications center was constructed[1] on the Inner Rim planet[2] Thyferra by the Galactic Empire before it attempted to recapture the world around the year 0 BBY. After being built, the structure was eventually abandoned and subsequently came into the possession of the Alliance to Restore the Republic,[1] an organization rebelling against the Imperial government.[3] The Alliance also constructed anti-infantry turrets near the uplink and maintained a garrison of Rebel troopers and two T2-B repulsor tanks in close proximity.[1]

Around 0 BBY, Darth Vader,[1] the Sith apprentice of Galactic Emperor Palpatine[4], invaded Thyferra with an Imperial force of stormtroopers and All Terrain Scout Transports led by a field commander in an attempt to rout the treacherous Moff Kalast.[1]

The Imperial forces killed the Rebels guarding the communications center before destroying the building itself under orders from Vader and continuing with their assault. The Alliance base was eventually ravaged and its garrison neutralized.[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

The communications center's only appearance so far is in the 2006 video game Star Wars: Empire at War.[5] The structure appears in the first mission of the Imperial story campaign and its fate depends on the player's performance; the Imperial forces need to get past two anti-infantry turrets, two T2-B tanks and multiple Rebel troopers to get to the array, which will prompt Vader to order its destruction. If the player does not reach the proximity of the complex, the events mentioned in the article do not take place.[1]
