Almaran was a tropical planet located in the Elrood sector's Almaran system with beaches, marmaw-inhabited oceans, rain forests, and wide plains of orange grasses. The planet was dedicated to the tourist trade and its surface was called Almar Downside. The planet was orbited by a space station known as Almar Upside, which was considered Almaran's capital.
History

The planet was first discovered by outsiders around the Subterra Period, Almaran was built up as a tourist attraction and flourished in the Galactic community after joining the Galactic Republic. Located in Separatist space during the Clone Wars, the world some how escaped Imperial control following the defeat of the Separatist Council.[2]
The Rebel Alliance, who had had an outpost on the capital station, was able to erase their data files in Almar Upside's central computers before the Galactic Empire invaded the Elrood sector. The planet remained outside Imperial control, which allowed the Alliance to set up dummy corporations to serve as cover for a series of listening posts.[3]
Senator Chau Feswin represented the sector in the New Republic Senate following the end of the Imperial fighting that marked the end of the Galactic Civil War.[4] While the planet escaped the Yuuzhan Vong War, the world was deep within the Empire of Darth Krayt.[2]
