Alusteel was a type of alloy used in the titanium-reinforced hulls of various models of the BTL Y-wing starfighter,[1] such as the BTL-A4 Y-wing and the BTA-NR2 Y-wing.[2] It was also utilized in a hull of similar material composition for the Executor-class Super Star Destroyer, which was constructed to reflect the design of the Imperial-class Star Destroyer.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Alusteel was first identified in the twenty-seventh issue of Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon, published by De Agostini on July 8, 2015, in which it was listed as a material used in the construction of the Executor-class starship's hull. It was later identified in a similar manner for the BTL Y-wing in the 2019 reference novel Rebel Starfighters Owners' Workshop Manual, which was written by Ryder Windham. Illustrations in the novel, provided by Chris Reiff and Chris Trevas, showed the use of alusteel in the hulls of various Y-wing models. This information was echoed in De Agostini's Republic, Rebel, and Resistance Starfighters, published on November 13, 2020 as the eighth edition of the Star Wars Encyclopedia booklet series.
