Aly San San was a WA-7 service unit who worked as a spokesbot for the Star Tours company sometime between 19 BBY and 0 BBY,[1] being featured extensively in public safety announcements and advertisements.[2] She was fluent in Basic, Spanish, French, Mandarin, Japanese[3], Putonghua, and Cantonese.
History
This droid's job was to make sure that Star Tours remained the premiere galactic tour agency. She had a friendly, sweet and enthusiastic personality.[2]
She was replaced by a Human counterpart sometime later.[4]
Behind the scenes
George Lucas suggested the name Aly San San in reference to Allison Janney, the actress who provides the voice for the character. The droid itself was also based on the WA-7 service unit droid fron Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones[5]
