"Hate to break it to you, but no one does salvage on Anoat for a reason. Place is toxic."
"Not toxic. Not anymore. Just forbidden."
―A young smuggler and Tam Bastion[1]

Anoat was a planet located in the Anoat system of the Outer Rim Territories. It was once a sprawling city-world that, as seat of the Nothoiin Noble Court, was the political center of the Anoat sector. However, after being gassed by the Galactic Empire, the planet was polluted and largely abandoned.

Description[]

Anoat was connected to the planet Sullust by the Incisor Sidestep hyperspace route and the Ring of Kafrene mining colony by the Corellian Trade Spine, which also continued on from Anoat out toward Wild Space.[4]

History[]

"This wasn't an accident. This was the Empire's doing."
"Come on. The Empire wouldn't—I mean, this was years before Alderaan and the Death Star…"
"Now you understand why our Rebellion keeps fighting."
―Tam Bastion and a young smuggler[1]
Anoat City

Anoat was a city-sprawled planet.

Once a sprawling city-world, Anoat served as the capital of the entire Anoat sector. However, years before the Battle of Yavin, the entire planet was gassed by the Galactic Empire, and the atmosphere became toxic and poisonous, forcing much of the population to flee from the polluted world. Some people, however, did not leave the planet. Those who did not die were driven insane by the toxins, evolving over time into savage and feral creatures referred to as "Lurkers." During the Galactic Civil War, the planet was under the control of the Galactic Empire and contained the sector's largest concentration of Imperial forces.[1]

The Resistance maintained a camp on Anoat during its fight against the First Order, which could not detect the rebels with long-range sensors thanks to the pollution on the world. Sometime after the Battle of Crait, General Jonato warned that a transmission from the Mid Rim world of Tah'Nuhna threatened to expose the Resistance presence on Anoat, but he was overruled by Leia Organa.[5]
