Antared III was a planet in the Antared system. Located in the Outer Rim Territories, Antared III was deep within the Esstran sector.

HistoryEdit

Discovered within three thousand years before the Ruusan Reformation of the Galactic Republic. Conquered during the Mandalorian Wars by Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders, Antared III was turned over to Darth Revan's Sith Empire during the Jedi Civil War. Following the defeat of the Sith, Antared III lingered independently for several centuries until the Brotherhood of Darkness reclaimed the world during the New Sith Wars. While the Army of Light vanquished the Dark Lords, the world did not join the Republic; instead it opted to remain independent for the next century, not involving itself in the affairs of the larger galaxy.^[2]

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, many pirates set up shop on the streets of Antared III's three main spaceport cities. Shops such as Merrk's Weapons Shop and the base of the pirate Yesgar were unharried by local law enforcement.^[3] Absorbed by Warlord Zsinj's Empire in 5 ABY, Antared III remained under Imperial control until 9 ABY when it gained independence from Zsinj and avoided contact with the New Republic. Cut off from the galaxy at large during the Yuuzhan Vong War, contact was eventually reestablished with the world, as Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire controlled the world by 137 ABY.^[2]
