"Tell them the secret word is 'dubesor'—I understand that's a native insult on Antipose XII."
―Lando Calrissian, to Vuffi Raa[4]

Antipose XII was an Outer Rim Territories planet located in the Centrality sector. It had violet skies, and its native inhabitants used the word "dubesor" as an insult. The pleasure yacht Arleen made year-long tours from the Oseon system to the celestial body Antipose IX as well as Antipose XII. When the gambler and freighter captain Lando Calrissian at one point used "dubesor" as a pre-designated password, it made him wonder what the natives of Antipose XII were doing that night.

Description[]

Antipose XII was a terrestrial planet that occupied the twelfth orbital position[2] around the star of[3] the Antipose system,[2] a part of the Centrality sector in the Slice portion of the Outer Rim Territories. Along with the rest of the system, Antipose XII was connected by the Falko Run hyperlane to the Falko and Paulking systems.[1] The planet's skies were described as the "most violet skies in the universe."[5]

History[]

Lando-FlamewindCover

Lando Calrissian was instructed to use the Antipose XII insult "dubesor" as a password.

The pleasure yacht Arleen,[5] constructed[6] by 3 BBY,[7] made year-long tours from the Oseon system to the celestial body Antipose IX as well as Antipose XII.[5] At some point between 3 BBY and 2 BBY,[7] the gambler and freighter captain Lando Calrissian was forced to travel to the heavily defended asteroid Oseon 5792, which served as the private estate of the trillionaire Bohhuah Mutdah. Calrissian was given a secret password—"dubesor," an insult used by the inhabitants of Antipose XII—for approaching the asteroid, and at some point he learned of the context behind the word. The captain relayed that information to his copilot, the droid Vuffi Raa, as the latter was communicating the password to a picket ship that had intercepted them in Oseon 5792's vicinity.[4]

After the pair were given instructions for landing their starship, the light freighter Millennium Falcon, on the asteroid, Calrissian wondered whether the natives of Antipose XII were loudly celebrating in a local saloon that night and calling each other "dubesor." The gambler grimly noted to himself that such activity would be vastly preferable to his upcoming mission, which involved smuggling two law enforcement officers onto Oseon 5792 and helping them arrest Mutdah on charges related to the trafficking and use of illegal narcotics.[4]

Inhabitants[]

Constituting a sparse population,[5] the inhabitants of Antipose XII used the native slang insult "dubesor" in their lexicon.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Flamewind of Oseon Cover

Antipose XII was introduced in Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon.

Antipose XII was first mentioned in Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon, the 1983 second entry in The Lando Calrissian Adventures trilogy of novels by L. Neil Smith.[4] "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," a 1990 roleplaying game source article published in the thirteenth issue of the Voyages SF magazine, placed the Antipose system, and therefore Antipose XII, in the Seswenna sector. Since that article was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity was never confirmed. In addition, "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are" misspelled the name of Antipose XII as "Antipose XI."[8]

The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, released in 2008, also created an apparent contradiction by stating that the Antipose system, including Antipose XII, was situated "not far from Centrality,"[2] despite the Wizards of the Coast roleplaying game source article "A Campaign Guide to the Centrality"—authored by Michael Kogge and published in the fifth issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine[5] on July 24, 2001[9]—previously establishing that the system indeed constituted a part of the sector.[5] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas subsequently overrode both the Voyages SF 13 placement and the information from The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia by placing the Antipose system in grid square U-8 as part of the Centrality.[1]
