- "The platoons are in the formation you've requested, General. Should I send them to support Captain Rex?"
"I'll give the order when I give it, Sergeant Appo."
- ―Appo and Pong Krell
"Appo" was a clone trooper who served in the 501st Legion during the Clone Wars. Appo was present for the Battle of Umbara, where he served as a sergeant under General Pong Krell's command. Appo took part in the mutiny against General Krell after he was found out to be a traitor, along with the other members of the 501st. Later in the war, Appo was promoted to commander and served directly under General Anakin Skywalker, really the newly-appointed Sith Lord Darth Vader, during the attack on the Jedi Temple after the execution of Order 66. He would bar senator Bail Organa from entering the Temple following the massacre, informing the Alderaanian of the "Jedi rebellion” before ordering him to leave immediately. However, he and his squad were assaulted by Jedi Padawan Zett Jukassa, a survivor of the initial attack. The Padawan cut down Appo and several other troopers with his lightsaber, before being gunned down by the fallen commander's remaining squadmates.
Grown on the planet Kamino, "Appo" was a clone of the human bounty hunter Jango Fett. He served as a clone trooper in the Grand Army of the Republic. During the Clone Wars, Appo was attached to the 501st Legion.

The "Jedi rebellion"Edit
- "There's been a rebellion, sir. Don't worry. The situation is under control. I'm sorry, sir. It's time for you to leave."
- ―Commander Appo, barring Senator Organa from entering the Jedi Temple after Order 66
Sometime after the Battle of Umbara, Appo was promoted to the rank of commander. Following the execution of Order 66, Commander Appo and Anakin Skywalker, now known as Darth Vader, lead the 501st Legion in an attack on the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. During the assault, Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan, concerned by the fires burning in the temple, docked his speeder on a landing platform where Appo and several of his men confronted him responding to the senators concerns by informing him there was a rebellion taking place but they had the situation under control, he then raised his blaster and bluntly ordered him to leave. Organa had barely turned around when Padawan Zett Jukassa, having fought his way through the temple interior, engaged them from behind cutting down two clones before they could react, landing in front of the surprised clones. The young Jedi quickly struck down four others including Appo himself. Forced to stop to counter blaster fire, Jukassa killed two more troopers with deflected shots before being overwhelmed and killed. The horrified senator quickly fled hoping to save as many Jedi as he could.
Appo was equipped with Phase II clone trooper armor, and carried a DC-15A blaster or DC-15 blaster rifle with him into combat. In addition, his utility belt was equipped with a N-20 Baradium-core thermal detonator. During his tenure as a sergeant, Appo's helmet had a white arrow shape running down its forehead. However, by the time of Order 66 this symbol was removed.
Behind the scenesEdit
Appo first appeared in Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, where he was voiced by Temuera Morrison, and like every other clone trooper in the film, portrayed entirety with computer-generated imagery.
The arrow on Appo's helmet is a nod to Appa, a character from Avatar: The Last Airbender, a show that The Clone Wars supervising director Dave Filoni had previously worked on. Clone trooper voiceover artist Dee Bradley Baker also provided Appo's voice.
