Aquilaris was a planet in the Outer Rim Territories which once held several popular podracing tracks like the Aquilaris Classic.
[edit] History
The majority of its surface was covered in water, with a few island chains and floating cities dotting the oceans. One notable location was the Old City—once a hovering city-ship, by the time of the Invasion of Naboo, it had fallen into decay and began its journey to the depths.
Travel between cities and islands was facilitated by underwater tunnels, constructed primarily of transparisteel, which provided a view of the underwater vistas and the aquatic fauna imported from Naboo, such as opee sea killers and daggerts.
In the last decades of the Old Republic, the planet was ruler by Governor Nave Vengaris, who welcomed the tourism and income which accompanied podracing. She supported the use of several floating cities as tracks, before the Galactic Empire abolished the sport. The citizens of the planet employed tribubble bongos imported from Naboo.
