The Aratech droid oxidizer was an ion blaster developed by the Aratech Company to be effective against a range of opponents in order to eliminate the need to carry a separate anti-droid weapon. While ion weapons such as the droid oxidizer were generally less damaging against organic opponents, they were able to penetrate some defenses that would have blocked typical blaster fire, and as such saw use against Battle droids during the Jedi Civil War.
