Ardos was a binary star with Evona in the Varl system, and the original homeworld of the Hutts. According to Hutt legend, Ardos became angry and vented off its layers of gas, destroying the atmosphere of the orbiting Varl, after Evona was swallowed by a black hole. In truth, by the time the Hutts established themselves on Nal Hutta, Ardos was a white dwarf type star.
