The assault battle droid or assault droid was a variation of the B1 battle droid used by the Trade Federation during the Clone Wars and The Separatist Crisis. Their assigned targets were enemy vehicles, as they were equipped withs E-60R missile launcher, HX2 mines, and V-1 thermal detonators, as well as an SE-14 blaster pistol for self-defense.^[1]

During the Clone Wars, the heavy assault droids stood out from the standard battle droids, with their dark red Or blue torso, with occasionally other red markings, like security droids.^[1]

Assault droids were produced by the CIS during the Clone Wars as anti-aircraft and anti-artillery units, used to destroy Republic turrets and vehicles on the battlefield. These heavy units were used to punch a hole in enemy armor, such as heavily grouped infantry, barricades, and most of all, vehicles.^[1] They were first deployed in the Battle of Geonosis, assigned to take out the Republic's air and ground attack vehicles.^[source?]
