In the wake of the First Battle of Geonosis, a pair of Confederate gunships ambushed a Galactic Republic troop transport. In the resulting battle, the Republic transport crashed, killing or severely injuring most of the clone troopers on board. The Separatist battle droids pursued the downed craft and began killing off the wounded troopers, leading one of them, Cut Lawquane, to flee from the battlefield and abandon his service to the Grand Army of the Republic.
