Autofiring laser cannons were set up as booby traps by poachers and other factions to destroy ships of those trying to scan or search abandoned starships in space, particular Imperial in nature. They would activate when crews tripped an alarm. The Foresight was one ship destroyed by an autofiring laser cannon.
