Bacca was a Wookiee from Kashyyyk and a skilled swordsmith.

[edit] Biography
Sometime before 4,000 BBY, Bacca was exploring in the Shadowlands when a ship crashed, killing all passengers on board. This was the Wookiee race's first encounter with advanced technology and the first evidence they had that life existed beyond their own planet. Bacca crafted a ceremonial blade from the ship's hull and rose to become Kashyyyk's greatest chieftain.

The blade was passed down from chieftain to chieftain as a symbol of leadership. At some point, Bacca's descendant Chieftain Rothrrrawr fought a terentatek, managing to wound the beast, but breaking off the blade inside the creature. He fled only with the hilt of the blade, which continued to be passed down through the generations.
His name was also carried with many Wookiees after him, such as Chewbacca, Kybacca, Weebacca and Lowbacca.

- The word 'bacca' is translated as "Ally" or "Friend" in Shyriiwook. "Bacca" also appears as a suffix in Wookiee names, such as Chewbacca, Kybacca, Weebacca and Lowbacca. It is speculated that such Wookiees are named for Bacca, or it is just an element of a compound containing 'friend', but this is unconfirmed.
