"Came up to me on Bamayar. After we took that stinking port—"
"Chenodra."
"Chenodra. Came up to me during the cleanup. Thought I'd messed up bad, with what Ajax and me had done. Howl started talking about the buildings instead—something about the arches and columns."
―Twitch and Brand — (audio) Listen (file info)[1]

Bamayar was a Mid Rim planet home to the Ducal Palace and Chenodra port. Between around 3 BBY and 0 BBY, the Imperial cargo pilot Bodhi Rook met and fell in love with a woman on Bamayar, who rejected him. During the Rebel Alliance's Mid Rim offensive, which began around 1 ABY, the Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry captured the Ducal Palace and Chenodra. Following the latter's capture, Captain Micha Evon spoke about the port's buildings to the rebel soldier Twitch.

Description[]

Bamayar was a terrestrial planet[2] located in the Mid Rim. It was home to the Ducal Palace and the stench-ridden port Chenodra.[1] Bamayar shared its name with the gas giant Bamayar IX.[3]

History[]

"We need to capture actual planets, and hold our territory against counterattack. A tall order in light of the Empire's numerical superiority, but we can make inroads by picking our battles. I recommend launching several attacks in the Mid Rim."
―Alliance General Carlist Rieekan, in a proposal to Alliance Commander-in-Chief Mon Mothma for a Mid Rim Offensive[4]

Bodhi Rook (pictured) fell in love with a woman on Bamayar, but was rejected.

Between around 3 BBY and 0 BBY,[5] Bodhi Rook, a cargo pilot in the Galactic Empire, met and developed feelings for a woman on Bamayar. However, the woman rejected his advances,[2] and Rook's friends went drinking with him after.[3]

During the Rebel Alliance's Mid Rim offensive,[1] which began around 1 ABY,[6] the Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry occupied the Ducal Palace and Chenodra. During the cleanup at Chenodra, Captain Micha Evon, better known as Howl, approached the rebel soldier Twitch—who was convinced she and another soldier named Maximian Ajax had made a big mistake during their time on Bamayar—and began talking to her about the buildings there and its arches and columns.[1] In 3 ABY,[6] following Howl's funeral, Twitch brought up a story about the captain at Chenodra.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Bamayar was first mentioned in the 2015 novel Battlefront: Twilight Company, written by Alexander Freed.[1]

  5. The Star Wars Encyclopedia issue "The Heroes of Rogue One" establishes that Bodhi Rook met a woman on Bamayar during his service as a cargo pilot. The issue also states that Rook's cargo pilot service began two years and twenty-four months after Rook entered the Terrabe Sector Service Academy, which "The Heroes of Rogue One" dates to 7 BBY, and ended with his defection to the Rebel Alliance shortly before the Battle of Yavin, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates to the end of 0 BBY. Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know establishes that a standard year was 365 days long, while the sixty-first issue of Star Wars: Build the Millenium Falcon sets the length of a standard month at thirty-five days, with twenty-four months therefore being approximately 2.3 standard years. Therefore, Rook's service as a cargo pilot, including his time on Bamayar, took place between around 3 BBY and 0 BBY.
