Barcaria was a planet[3] located in the Barcaria system, a part of the Sombure sector of the Mid Rim.[1] It was the origin point of the commodity known as Barcarian claw salt.[4][5]
The parents of the Human Jace Malcom had a ranch on Barcaria where he spent his youth. Upon coming of age at some point by 3681 BBY, Malcom, wishing to see the rest of the galaxy, enlisted with the Republic Military and was posted off-world.[3] At one point by 0 BBY, the smuggler Han Solo visited Barcaria on a mission for members of the Hutt species.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Barcaria was introduced as a map label in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square K-16.[2] It was subsequently described as a planet by the 2012 reference book Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia.[3]

(backup link) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Barcarian claw salt in relation to the Barcaria system and specifically Barcaria.
