The Battle of Duro resulted in the Galactic Empire of the reborn Emperor Palpatine recapturing Duro from the New Republic during Operation Shadow Hand.

The Imperial assault was led by Vice Admiral Gilad Pellaeon aboard his flagship Chimaera, where he led the remainder of Thrawn's fleet. Although the planet was captured, it was at the loss of the Chimaera, which was critically damaged and had to be abandoned to the New Republic.

Shortly after the capture, Palpatine was finally killed and Duro, along with the other recaptured holdings of the Core Worlds and Colonies, was abandoned to the New Republic by the Imperial Remnant.
