The Battle of Kattada was a battle between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic. It took place on the planet Kattada in 1 BBY.

Pre-battleEdit

Following a trip to Ralltiir where they retrieved a Ralltiir rebel named Basso, Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan traveled on the Tantive IV to Kattada's main space port at Haleoda. Upon arriving, they were greeted by Haleoda's ruler Madam Mia Ikova, another sympathizer of the Alliance to Restore the Republic.

She took Leia on a tour of Haleoda and eventually arrived at her palace. Alone together, Leia asked her fellow comrade Ikova if she could deliver a shipment of supplies to the Rebels on war-torn Ralltiir which was under Imperial occupation. Ikova agreed, saying that Kattada had no love for the Empire and that her pilots love challenges.

Later, at the spaceport, Leia and Mia Ikova were dining while repairs were being completed on the Tantive IV and that Basso was recovering in a bacta tank. Just then, word came from a messenger that an Imperial patrol ship was landing. By then, Leia and her crew had realized that it was too late to escape and that they could not leave Mia Ikova and her people to deal with the Empire alone.

The Imperials arriveEdit

Sure enough, an Imperial Sentinel-class landing craft landed right beside the Tantive IV. Before the Imperials could depart from their shuttle, Leia's captain Raymus Antilles ordered the crew of the Tantive IV to break out the blasters and man the turbolaser turrets. Leia also warned him not to start a conflict and not to fire unless she ordered.

Antilles also gave her a comlink so that the crew could hear her order in the event a battle took place. Mia Ikova also commented that her people were too lightly equipped to deal with the Imperials since they were a peaceful society. Leia replied by saying that she was sure they could find a way to deal with the Imperials peacefully.

Soon, a force of stormtroopers and scout troopers departed from the landing craft under the command of Commander Karg, who announced that all who were present were under arrest in the name of Emperor Palpatine. Leia replied by asking on whose authority and that she had been allowed to enter and depart the Ralltiir system freely by Lord Tion.

Karg then responded by citing that Tion's jurisdiction did not extend beyond the Ralltiir system and that his permission had been overruled by Lord Darth Vader himself. He then went on to say that Lord Vader had also decreed that if Leia was found on any other place than Alderaan, she and her ship would be seized and searched. Leia and Mia Ikova then replied that Vader did not have the authority to arrest a member of the Imperial Senate without a cause especially when Leia's visit to Kattada was a recreational one and that Leia was enjoying Kattada's famous beaches.

Karg then responded by also arresting Mia Ikova for supporting Leia. Two of her bodyguards then approached Commander Karg and chastised him for arresting Ikova. Karg's soldiers then opened fire on the bodyguards presumably killing them and wounding Ikova in the process. Leia replied that there was no need for shots to be fired when it could have been resolved peacefully. Karg then replied by showing her that the Empire did not care for any life and that now her cooperation was assured.

First shots firedEdit

Leia then responded to this by ordering the Tantive IV to open fire on the Imperials, thus starting the battle. His lieutenant Splik then ordered his troops to fall back to the shuttle while Karg confronted Leia (who was attending to Ikova) and attempted to shoot her. Luckily, Leia was saved when the Tantive IV turbolaser turret opened fire on Karg, wounding him severely. The Tantive IV's crew then retrieved Leia, Ikova and Karg and brought them to the medical bay.

The Tantive IV then opened fire on the Sentinel-class landing craft, destroying its landing gear and communications array before taking off from the battlefield to attend to the dying Ikova and Karg. Meanwhile, Imperial lieutenant Splik ordered his troops to bring the landing craft's still operational shields to full strength.

While all this happened, Mia Ikova's father visited his daughter in her last moments. Leia blamed herself for what had happened and wished she had never come to Kattada. Ikova responded by reminding Leia that she had come to seek help for the rebels on Ralltiir who needed their aid badly and that she should not let what had occurred sway her from her purpose, before presumably dying.

They also attended to the severely burned Karg who screamed that he would not die in his current state and that he was going to die. Karg also demanded that Basso be removed form the bacta tank and that he be placed in it. The doctor replied by saying that the bacta would not help since his wounds were too extensive. Karg reacted madly this could not be happening, that he was a commander in the Imperial Navy and that his father was an Admiral. Karg then blamed Leia and said that she would pay for her crimes before presumably passing away.

Raymus Antilles then approached Leia and told her that she would be targeted by the Empire if news of it came out and that the shields of the Imperial patrol were still operative. Thus the only solution was to launch a ground assault.

Ground assaultEdit

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Splik and his troops prepared for combat by ripping up the panels of the landing pad to construct rudimentary fortifications and trenches, establishing E-Web repeating blaster firing arcs, and setting up other equipment. One of his troops informed Splik that the Speeder bikes could not be used as the damage to the ship was too extensive to get them out. Splik contemplated on the capabilities of the rebel commander, wondering why his men were allowed to dig in. By observing the surrounding area with his binoculars, Splik realized that whoever was in charged of the opposing side had no military training. Meanwhile, Leia had a conversation with the Ralltiir rebel Basso concerning the Rebellion against the Empire and the secret information stored within the hypnotic implant in his brain.

Back on the battlefield, the Kattadan commander instructed his troops to use the enemy muzzle flashes to pinpoint their targets and to fire. The Kattadans and their Rebel allies fired a volley of laser blasts that weakened the Imperial force, allowing them to charge into the Imperial lines. After a fierce bloody fight, the battle on Kattada was ended when Lieutenant Splik was shot dead, thus demoralizing the remaining Imperials. Only four scout troopers, a stormtrooper, an Imperial officer and Spilik's aide survived.

AftermathEdit

The Rebels and their Kattadan allies had achieved a small victory against the Galactic Empire. The Kattadans also arranged for the Imperial landing craft to be dismantled and all traces of the fighting hidden before a second Imperial patrol arrived. Leia also left for Alderaan on the Tantive IV after saying farewell to her Kattadan allies.
