The Battle of Malrev IV occurred when Rogue Squadron was sent to search for the missing ship Starfaring. They were attacked by TIE/ln starfighters piloted by Irrukiine under the mental control of Cartariun, and Wedge Antilles was shot down before the rest of the squadron found the Starfaring, which had landed after suffering mechanical failures. In the night, the Rogues and the ship's Bothan crew and passengers were attacked by Irrukine, which Cartariun controlled through Sith magic directed from a Sith Temple in the area. They repulsed the attack, and in the morning set out for the temple. A skirmish occurred there, and Antilles was able to escape Cartariun, who had captured him. Rogue Dllr Nep, however, was himself captured.

Girov Dza'tey, the Bothan leader, killed Cartariun and seized control of the temple's power, while Rogue Squadron mounted an aerial rescue effort that was joined by Eiattuan forces under Isplourrdacartha Estillo. Nep, shot by Dza'tey, was dying, and tapped into the Sith magic to summon the injured Rogue Herian I'ngre for an attack on the temple that would destroy its power. When proton torpedoes proved insufficient, I'ngre crashed her fighter into the temple, destroying it.
