The Battle of Phaseera was fought near the end of the New Sith Wars.

[edit] The Battle
Under the cover of night, the Gloom Walkers engaged a Republic outpost in a three-hour battle. They surrounded the outpost, and jammed the bases transmissions with Interference boxes. Then they engaged the base, starting with the turrets. Two of the soldiers manning the turrets were killed before the rest took cover. Soon after the two fell, a soldier threw a Flash Cannister, and blinded some of the Sith forces.
The Gloom Walkers won, despite the fact they were outnumbered two-to-one, they had been blinded, and the Republic forces had vehicles and heavy weapons, neither of which the Walkers possessed. There were only nine Sith casualties, compared to forty-six Republic casualties. After this brief conflict, the previously summoned army of the Brotherhood of Darkness attacked and defeated the Republic army at the capital, ending conflict on Phaseera and in the surrounding sector.
[edit] Gloom Walkers
The Gloom Walkers had been camped out in the Phaseeran jungle for two days, waiting for orders to attack the Republic outpost that overlooked the valley they were in. The outpost was the only thing between the Sith Army and the capital of Phaseera. The marginal success of the battle was due to the leadership and skill of Dessel, who knocked unconcious his commander, Ulabore, because he felt that the orders he was given would send his troops into a slaughter, and then assumed command of the Gloom Walkers. He gave the order for the main army to move, even though they hadn't captured the outpost.
During the battle, Dessel was temporarily blinded from a Republic flash grenade. Because of his force sensitivity, he was still able to use a sniper rifle to pick off the enemy's heavy gunners, allowing the Gloom Walker infantry to swarm over the outpost.

The thousands of Sith troopers soon overtook the capital, and also had an overwhelming victory.

When the Gloom Walkers came into camp, they found that soldiers they had left guarding Ulabore had released him, and notified their superiors. The military security arrested Dessel for mutiny. As he went, he had a satisfying revelation: Ulabore was soon going to die in an unfortunate "accident." Soon after, Dessel was admitted to the Sith Academy at Korriban, and began training as Darth Bane because of his actions at Phaseera.
