Prelude
Edit
The Galactic Empire had long operated a listening outpost out of a derelict temple on Rhen Var, a world deeply entrenched in rich history surrounding the Galactic Republic. When the Galactic Civil War broke out, the outpost was used to monitor local systems for Rebel activity.[2] This fact had not gone unnoticed by the Rebel Alliance and an attack on the outpost was launched with the intent of capturing the facility.[2]
The battle
Edit
The Rebels were deployed at a tower below the station and advanced up three stairways into the main citadel, where they were met by opposition from stormtroopers laser turret defenses and the local garrison. The attack proved to be a futile effort by the Alliance forces, who were either outnumbered and surrendered or completely wiped out.[2]
Behind the scenes
Edit
The battle for the Rhen Var outpost appears in the mission "Sabotage at Rhen Var" in the Galactic Civil War campaign of the 2004 video game Star Wars: Battlefront. Since the game delegates no specific battle plan for the player (playing from the Imperial perspective) to follow, this article was written to be as vague as possible.
