In 3,962 BBY, a battle was fought in the Zel system between the Galactic Republic and Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders, who had invaded Republic space and sparked the Mandalorian Wars. The battle took place as a part of Mandalorian Triumph, a Mandalorian campaign to capture the Core World of Duro. One prong of this advance took the Mandalorian forces from their territory through the Ambria system and to Zel. The Mandalorians were victorious in the Zel system,^[1] from which they moved on to another victory at the planet of Commenor^[2] and continued to press Coreward.^[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

The battle is only referenced once in The Essential Atlas. It is marked on a galactic map showing the course of the Mandalorian Wars rather than described in prose. In the Atlas, the Zel system is denoted as the "Zeltros system"^[1] after the planet of Zeltros, which it contains.^[3]
