Beed Thane was the archon of the planet Vergill, a member of the Hapes Consortium. He insulted Ambassador Leia Organa Solo after she attempted to persuade the Hapans to support the New Republic in its war against the Yuuzhan Vong.
He angered Prince Isolder who then challenged and defeated Thane in an honor duel. Following the duel, he was forced to pledge his planet's support for joining the war.
