Beetle droids were B1 battle droids riding on mounts resembling beetles. The beetles had six legs, a brown color, and were used by the Trade Federation before the outbreak of the Clone Wars. They were probably based on large insects such as harvester beetles. There were three levels of beetle droid mounts, each with different levels of armor and flamethrowers. They were used as heavy close-range units, sacrificing range for speed and power. The flamethrowers were especially effective against mechanical units. It came in basic, heavy, and advanced models, the heavy possessing better weapons and armor on it than the basic model, and it improved more on the advanced upgrade.
