The Belat system was a star system located within the Vilonis sector in the Mid Rim region of the galaxy, notable only as a hyperspace transit point. During a staff transfer from the Mon Calamari Star Cruiser Defiance to the cruiser Liberty, the convoy intercepted a distress call from the task force of Calico in a nearby location. Two RZ-1 A-wing interceptors from Blue Squadron, one of which was piloted by Ace Azzameen, were dispatched to investigate.
