Belo Tusus was the Financial Minister of Orto in 19 BBY.

[edit] Biography

While the government of Orto was neutral, Tusus wished to take control of it and join the Confederacy of Independent Systems. He seized his chance near the end of the Clone Wars, executing a coup, declaring a planetwide lockdown, and calling in Confederacy forces to take control of the planet.[1]

While Tusus was at first confident in his success, soon acts of sabotage began to hamper his plans. The Jedi Knight Nem Bees, undercover at the time, had been busy hindering Confederacy efforts at controlling the planet, damaging vital equipment and droid soldiers. Tusus grew increasingly paranoid with each attack, suspecting everyone in his inner circle, including the Separatist Neimoidian attachés sent to aid him.[1]

Unbeknownst to him, his own Twi'lek servant was the one leaking information to Bees. When, with her help, Bees called in Galactic Republic forces and destroyed the palace shield generator, Tusus lost all confidence in the Confederacy's ability to keep him safe and fled Orto. His whereabouts afterwards are unknown.[1]

After fleeing Orto, Tusus and his servant made their way to the planet Toola. While there, they visited a crowded marketplace. As Tusus haggled with a shopkeeper, Jedi Master Kai Hudorra, on the run from the Galactic Empire and low on resources, used the Force to steal Tusus' coin pouch. His servant spotted the Jedi, but Kai made a gesture of silence and she happily complied. When Tusus realized he had been robbed, he hit his assistant for not noticing the robbery.[2]

This character was created by Star Wars Hyperspace member Kyle Jewhurst through the What's the Story? feature as part of the backstory for Nem Bees. The author intended Belo Tusus to be the wealthy Ortolan seen on Toola in Star Wars Republic 79: Into the Unknown, Part 1. However, this was not included in the final Databank entry.[3]
