Belsavis was an astronomical object located in the Senex-Juvex[1] and the Western Reaches[2] portion of the Mid Rim, in grid square L-18 on the Standard Galactic Grid. Belsavis was connected via hyperspace route to Karfeddion,[1] and was located near the Thull's Shroud, a location where the marauder group of the Nihil operated during the High Republic Era.[4]
Around 5 BBY,[5] the Galactic Empire sent a group of prisoners from Niamos to Belsavis to carry out their sentences.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
Belsavis was introduced in the new Star Wars canon on a galactic map included in the January 29, 2016 StarWars.com article "Where in the Galaxy Are the Worlds of Star Wars: The Force Awakens?" by Mark Newbold.[6] The map included in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game,[1] an August 2016[7] Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars Roleplaying boxed set, later introduced the complete name of Belsavis.[1] Belsavis was originally introduced in the 1995 Star Wars Legends continuity novel Children of the Jedi, written by Barbara Hambly.[8]
