History
Edit
The Bestine system was home to Red Squadron and Rogue Squadron pilots Jek Tono Porkins and Zev Senesca.[1]

It was also the site where pilots Biggs Darklighter and Derek Klivian joined the Alliance to Restore the Republic after the mutiny on the Rand Ecliptic shortly before the Battle of Yavin.[2] These defections followed the destruction in the system of the civilian freighter Lark and the massacre of his young passengers from the Clarion Scholars Academy shortly before.[3]
During the Alliance to Restore the Republic's investigation on the first Death Star, and while orbiting Bestine IV, the MC80 Star Cruiser Defiance was engaged by the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Immortal, which launched squadrons of TIE/sa bombers to destroy her. Rebel pilots were able to tarry them, until the Defiance hyperspaced away. The Independence was later attacked in a similar way.[4]
