Biblioteka Ossus

Biblioteka Ossus (the Ossus Library) is a Polish language Star Wars online wiki-based encyclopedia and the third largest Star Wars wiki project after Wookieepedia and Jedipedia. It was officially established on August 11, 2006.
On February 23rd, 2008 Ossus reached its 3500th article, and on 26th of December 2008 the Library reached its 4500th article.

Biblioteka Ossus project was born in October 2005 as a result of the cooperation between the two biggest Polish Star Wars portals: Bastion Polskich Fanów Star Wars (Bastion of the Polish Star Wars Fans) and Imperial City Online. The project was highly confidential. The engine itself was started in March 2006. The creators decided that Biblioteka Ossus should have its precise rules about vocabulary, ortography, etc. from the very beginning. Besides, they uploaded nearly 600 articles at the start. Biblioteka Ossus was started officially on August 11 2006 during the CorusCon convention. Because of the well-made advertisement and the vast base of the articles Biblioteka Ossus gained a lot of users in a short time.
On September 5 2006 Ossus reached its 1000th article. On September 22 the internal forum called Sala Zgromadzeń (Hall of the Convocations) was opened. On October 24 the Firefox search plugin was released so that searching Biblioteka become much easier. On November 15 the chat called Kawiarenka pod wesołym Archiwistą (Canteen under a Happy Archivist). On November 27 and December 16 Ossus gained two new allies: Zakon Force Crusaders (The Force Crusaders Order) and Stocznie Sluis Van (Sluis Van Shipyards).
Because of the mass vandal attacks Ossus was forced to temporarily ban any edits. On the same day it reached its 2000th article. A few days later the MediaWIki engine was updated to 1.9.0. version.
On January 31 Ossus started an election of the three Jedi (users with more supervising) which ended on 4th of February.
On 12th of February Ossus started a movement to a new server. However, due to the many problems which were met by the admins, works were not ended until April 27. In addition, the MediaWIki engine was updated to 1.9.3. version.
On 3d of July Polish interwiki links on Wookieepedia, which had earlier led to another, abandoned Polish Wiki - Empirepedia - started to lead to Ossus.
On 16th of September 2007 one of the users was promoted to Jedi and one of the Jedi - to the Guardian.
Because of new server problems Ossus had to move to another one. This was ended on 14th of November. Many changes were made: new skins of the pages and new Web 2.0 view of the images.
On 1st of December there was a new election and again two people were promoted to Jedi and Guardian states.
On 1st of June 2008 The Outer Rim, the third biggest Polish Star Wars portal, joined Biblioteka Ossus.
Nowadays Biblioteka Ossus is well-known among the Polish fans and respected outside. It has recently gained its 4000th article and there are many constans users. Ossus interwiki links are now accepted by German, Spanish, Russian and Italian Wiki, as well as obviously Wookieepedia.

- Ossus, like Jedipedia, is not hosted on Wikia, yet it is one of the biggest Star Wars wiki projects.
- Only Wookieepedian, Jedipedian and Russian Star Wars wiki interwiki links lead to Ossus - however, some of the other projects lead to Ossus main page.
