Black Sun Squadron was a starfighter military group serving Black Sun that fielded Z-95 Headhunters, the predecessor to the X-wing. The fighter craft of the unit were painted white and marked with Black Sun's logo on the wing panels. Made up of the most ruthless fighter pilots in the galaxy, veteran smugglers and pirates that made up the squadron were proud to be flying for the most feared crime syndicate of its time. The best aces were occasionally selected—based on how effective their ruthless tactics were—to be attached to Elite Black Sun, an exclusive squadron of the organization's top-ranking pilots.
