Blackfire Flight was a squadron of RZ-1 A-wing interceptors that was assigned to the Fifth Battle Group during the Black Fleet Crisis. Part of the New Republic Fifth Fleet, it fought in the Battle of Bessimir. It was sent to attack the recon satellites orbiting the Galactic Empire planet. One A-wing was destroyed by an orbital sleeper mine while making a pass on a satellite. It was the only New Republic casualty in the engagement.
