"The factory was built quickly, with little regard for basic safety practices. Enormous bribes were paid to inspectors to overlook violations that are part of the laws of Falleen."
Mazara, to Obi-Wan Kenobi[src]

Blackwater Systems was the name of a company founded by the criminal Granta Omega, which opened a factory on the planet Falleen shortly before the Clone Wars. Granta Omega, the scientist Jenna Zan Arbor, and the deposed dictator Roy Teda used the Blackwater Systems facility to test various water-borne delivery mechanisms for the Zone of Self-Containment drug. Blackwater was well-known for ignoring safety regulations and for bribing inspectors to overlook the infractions. The company was not opposed to using lethal force on civilians.[2]

Workers at Blackwater wore red jumpsuits and checked levels on machines that monitored the injection of liquid into canisters. Most of the workers were employed to double-check the machines for mistakes. The newest workers swept the factory floors before leaving. The managers were supposed to monitor the workers from a tier running around the upper level of the factory floor, but they rarely paid any attention to the workers.[1]

In 24 BBY Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker infiltrated the facility to find Granta Omega. Omega then destroyed the entire facility to kill his pursuers and to destroy any evidence of both the Zone of Self-Containment and a re-creation of a section of the Senate Utility Tunnels, originally located under the Senate Building on Coruscant, that was in the wing of the facility.[1]

Behind the scenes

Blackwater Systems features in the young adult novel Jedi Quest: The False Peace, the ninth volume in the Jedi Quest series written by Jude Watson. Blackwater Systems is also mentioned in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.
